OHA Week at HRS

Highlights from OHA Week at Haileybury Rendall School.

NEWS 30 Oct 2024

Since 1903, the Old Haileyburians Association (OHA) has been dedicated to fostering lifelong connections among Haileybury’s graduates, with students hailing from our schools across Melbourne, Darwin, China, and beyond. Through events, clubs, networking, and an array of programs and services, the OHA ensures that alumni remain connected, celebrated, and supported. In recent times, the OHA were thrilled to celebrate their second annual OHA Week with HRS students in Darwin, showcasing the strength and community spirit of our alumni network.

Fun, food, and connection

The OHA Week Carnival was a highlight of the celebrations, offering students a lively, memorable day as they discovered more about what OHA membership provides after they graduate. Designed to connect current students with the school’s rich legacy, the carnival featured food trucks, activities, and entertainment including:

  • Luigi’s Pizza – serving up classic, fresh pizzas
  • Cheeky Cheeky Churros – offering mouth-watering churros with a variety of toppings
  • Top End Delights – with refreshing ice cream and sorbet
  • The Potato Man – delighting the crowd with loaded spuds
  • Party Higher Silent Disco – where students danced with friends in a fun, new way
  • In the Booth Photobooth – creating lasting memories with photo fun

Inspiring the next generation

Our Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Russell Davidson, took the opportunity to present to Pre-Senior and Senior School students about the mission and benefits of the OHA. Highlighting the career and networking opportunities the OHA provides, Mr Davidson encouraged students to see alumni connections as a way to support, inspire, and enhance their future. Whether through career mentoring, event invitations, or chapter networks, the OHA ensures that graduates feel connected wherever they go.

Over 200 students from Pre-Senior (Year 9) through to Year 12, attended the carnival, celebrating their shared connection.

Sharing stories and building bonds

Adding to the week’s festivities, the OHA hosted an OHA Darwin Chapter Dinner, where over 30 alumni came together to share their experiences and favourite memories from their school years. This gathering was a reminder of the friendships and community that continue long after graduation.
