Our Haileybury Rendall School Clontarf Academy held a Leadership camp in Jabiru during Week 8, with activities kicking off on Tuesday afternoon [in Darwin] at the waterfront Aqua Park, followed by dinner at the Trailer Boat Club.
We then made tracks out to Jabiru on Wednesday morning enjoying some wet season fun by linking up with the Jabiru Clontarf Academy for a muchenjoyed swim at Nourlangie Rockhole. It was then back to Jabiru for a basketball session and more swimming at the local pool before some teambuilding games, showers and lights out.
Thursday was an early rise for a training session hosted by the Jabiru Clontarf Academy where the boys took part in warm-up drills, games of European handball and finishing off with basketball and a bacon and egg breakfast.
On our final day, we set out to try our luck on landing a Kakadu Barra and that we did. The very first cast ended in a healthy 60cm Barra for Raphael Djorlom and the excitement of the entire group was off the charts, setting the scene for a great session as all the boys attempted to reel in one of their own. Layton Wauchope was the only other boy to taste success, but unfortunately not his Barra as it was undersized and placed back to fight another day.
A great time was had by all and a big thank you goes out to our Jabiru counterparts for their hospitality and support.
