‘Action’ during Wellbeing Week
Wellbeing Week was a fabulous experience, full of energy, enthusiasm, and smiles. In conversations at the end of the week, many staff members reflected on their highlights. For me, the highlight was seeing the Middle School students get so much joy from the experience of helping others and the environment through our ‘Action’ activities.
New Year 8 students contributed to a registered Clean Up Australia event at Casuarina Coastal Reserve and Rapid Creek area, while our Year 9 students made food packages for Aunty’s Free Feeds and compiled personal hygiene packs for Happy Boxes. Each of these initiatives helped our students to understand the value of giving back and receiving the feel-good energy from social justice initiatives.
Here are a couple of comments from some of our students on Wellbeing Week:
“In Wellbeing Week, I participated in a list of fun and engaging activities, such as preparing food for Aunty’s Free Feeds, Flourish Journey, Darwin Waterfront lagoon, small games like Minute To Win It, and initiative games. I found that these activities were very exciting and interesting with my favourite being the Darwin Waterfront. The community and environment were very supporting and engaging towards its students during the activities.”

“The beach clean-up was an awesome and interactive experience. We went to the Casuarina Coastal Reserve at Rapid Creek and were devastated to find that our beaches are getting poor treatment. But when we left there, I feel we made our beaches cleaner. Overall, it was a very fulfilling experience.”
